Media Visualization: Visual Techniques for Exploring Large Media Collections.

The article explains the limitations of current web interfaces and tools for viewing and managing media collections. We describe new method which we call media visualization - use of high resolution visualizations which show all images in a collection (or key video frames) sorted in different ways to enable discovering patterns and understanding the "shape" or a collection.
