Thesis Title: Early Enlightenment in Istanbul
About
I am a doctoral candidate at UCSD's Department of History and Science Studies Program. My research is on the intellectual life in Istanbul during the early Enlightenment. So far, my empirical focus has been on the production and consumption of scientific and philosophical texts in "Lale Devri," which refers to the latter half of Ahmed III's reign.
I have also spent considerable time studying the historiography of Arabic-Islamic science and have a deep appreciation for 19th-century German scholars.
